MOTIVATION
I want to make sure that I reward my students for their hard work and reaching the PRIDE goals at multiple points throughout the year. While Sanford Middle also does their own positive behavior rewards, I like to reward my students on a consistent basis to encourage them to keep up their great work!
STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Each week, one student from each class will be selected as Student of the Week. This student has done a great job of showing the PRIDE traits and has worked hard to complete activities during the week.
These students will have their picture and a brief statement about their achievement here!
HOMEWORK PASS
I assign homework with the intention of giving students extra practice with skills that are important for success in their future.
Each week, every student that turns in homework on time will receive a sticker on a tracker. If a student receives eight stickers in a row, they will receive a homework pass.
Also, I will be selecting one student from each class on random weeks to receive a homework pass. I will not let students know when I'll be doing this to keep them on their toes!
GROUP WORK EXTRA CREDIT
Students will work in groups to learn. I have found that this process is not always natural for 8th graders, so I like to include an incentive for students who work well together to learn.
If a group earns an average of 80% or higher on their quizzes or unit test, each student in the group will receive a 10% bonus grade. (Example, if John's group scores an 83 average and John's score on the test was an 80, his grade would increase to a 90)
