HOW DO WE LEARN?

We are ALL intelligent.

And we all learn differently. Some of us are kinesthetic learners that learn better through physical or hands-on activities. Some of us are auditory or visual learners that learn best through seeing or hearing about material. Sometimes, we learn through multiple ways. Because it is my goal to reach every single one of my students, we do lots of different types of activities in class.

Want to learn more about YOUR learning style?

I've only listed a few of the major types of intelligences on my site. Take this online learning styles inventory to see what kind of learner YOU are!

TYPES OF CLASSWORK

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES & PARTICIPATION

Sometimes there will be independent work, other times partner or group work. Occasionally, these activities will incorporate technology using tablets or mobile devices. Students will receive a grade for select in-class activities.

GROUP PROJECTS

Students are seated in groups all year. This is to facilitate group work and projects. For every unit, students will complete a group project. These projects will frequently involve technology, including tablets, the Internet and mobile devices. Group projects will also require students to create a visual project and connect to a real-world issue.

TESTS & QUIZZES

Tests and quizzes are important not just because they show me what the students know, but also because they indicate how well I have covered the topic and prepared them for their future. Quizzes will typically be given weekly and tests will be given at the end of each unit. In addition to unit tests, students will complete a midterm in December and a final test in May.
